This is how we created our movie trailers. This project was aimed at understanding how much learning impacts our lives every day. There are so many different learning opportunities that impact our lives for years to come.
We started off creating our super hero theme songs in Garage Band.
The next step was to review and pick out a movie trailer theme in iMovie on an iPad.
The third step was to plan. This involved writing the credits and action statements for the movie trailer. This was a challenging step.
Our fourth step was to decide where to shoot the movie shots, who was going to be in each shot and how the sequence of events fit together. We also had to invite other characters or people to be in our trailers.
The theme of our movie trailers had to coincide with our year long class theme of "Knowledge is our power" and how we increase our power through learning. This helped us to formulate the actions and words included in the trailer.
After we finished all of the planning stages, it was time to shoot our movie clips. This had to be scheduled so the location and characters would all be available when it was time to record.
After all of the movie clips were recorded, it was time to edit and choose the final shot for each portion of the story board. Some shots had to be reshot since they didn't meet the quality expectations of the producer.
After all editing was complete, we had to put our movie trailers into Dropbox, an online cloud storage location that allows access from any online device. Once our movie trailers were sent to Dropbox, we could then access them from our laptops where our Garage Band theme songs were located.
After the movie trailers were migrated to our laptops we were able to add the authentic theme song track to the movie trailer. Once we were able to see our movie trailer and listen to our theme songs, a few changes were made to synchronize the timing of the clips to the rhythm of the music.
Once we were satisfied with the combination of our trailers and theme songs a final review was conducted to make sure the final product met the expectations of each student. A final step was to burn the movie trailer onto a DVD for each student to take home and share with their families. We also watched a montage of all created movie trailers during our 'Super Hero Premier' day celebration.
